1. Sit/Down/Stand
2. Heeling:
Purpose: To teach the dog to walk on a leash.
A. Dog is sitting at your left side. Step off on your left foot. Say: “FIDO, HEEL.”
B. Walk straight and quickly.
C. Praise: “GOOD HEEL.”
D. Jerk and release:
1) Dog is lagging: jerk forward
2) Dog is forging: jerk backward
3) Dog is too far to the left: jerk to the right
E. Make a left about turn and return to the same line.
3. Sit/Stay: Be able to hold 2 minutes by next week.
4. Work on eye contact.
