1. Sit/Down/Stand
2. Heeling, Including Left Turn
3. Sit/Stay, Leaving Dog
4. Come Forth:
Purpose: Preliminary to getting a dog to come when called.
Methodology: While heeling, say dog’s name, rock back on one foot, jerk leash and say: “COME.” At same time, move backward. Reel dog in, if necessary.
When dog is within your reach, pet and praise: “GOOD COME.” Praise for 30 seconds. Repeat two to three times.
5. Down/Stay Next to dog.
A. Hand signal and say: “STAY”
B. Stand up straight
C. Watch dog closely
D. Correct quickly!
